  Awards

This year three paper awards will be given. The process for choosing the papers for the awards begins with the reviewers and track chairs in the various areas who recommend papers for consideration. The final award decisions are made by a committee of three hospitality Deans. Dr. Kaye Chon, founder of the Graduate Student Research Conference, and Dean of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Dean of the host school, and the Dean of the previous year’s host school then review the recommended papers in a double-blind process. Dean Stuart Mann, William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Dean Abraham Pizam, Rosen College of Hospitality Management, University of Central Florida will join Dr. Chon in choosing this year’s award winners based on the criteria set out by the award sponsors.

The International Council on Hospitality, Restaurant and Institutional Education (I-CHRIE) Best Paper Award
This award is given for outstanding research. The award winner(s) will receive an engraved award and a certificate and be allowed to present his/her/their paper at the upcoming I-CHRIE Conference in 2009. In addition, the winner(s) will receive free registration for that conference.

International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management (IJCHM) Best Paper Award
This award is given to the paper that best presents and discusses current, relevant and interesting findings about an issue related to hospitality management. Preferably it will be given to a paper having strong empirical work that also discusses the practical implications of its findings.

The award winner(s) will receive an engraved award, a certificate, and a one-year, on-line subscription to the IJCHM, plus the opportunity to publish in the journal after being subjected to the double-blind review process.

Harrah Research Center Outstanding Research Award
This award will be given to the student who demonstrates an outstanding empirical investigation of a topic that is both current and relevant to the hospitality industry. The paper will be evaluated based on its originality, research quality, theoretical findings and practical implications for the industry.

The winner(s) of this award will receive an engraved award and a certificate.
